Everywhere The Simpsons Went

When Simpsons creator Matt Groening was first giving the cartoon family a place to call home, he wanted them to have one that could encompass whichever geographical necessities the episodes and storylines required. In short, he needed to create a place where anything could happen. Groening decided to name the new town “Springfield,” since that’s one of the most common town names in America. He also gave the new fictional town attributes based largely on his own hometown of Portland, Oregon. While the true location of Springfield has remained a mystery throughout The Simpsons 25 seasons on the air, in that time, the family has journeyed to dozens of popular locations all over the world. This infographic takes a look at everywhere The Simpsons traveled to, why they went, and some funny episode quotes along the way.
