Cloud services can be a lifesaving solution for a company. Whether it’s processing power or storage, the cloud solutions offer an affordable way to expand and to satisfy all of your IT needs at the same time. Unfortunately, many people trust the various cloud solutions blindly and don’t pay as much attention as they should to cloud security and data protection. One of the biggest threats to security is shadow IT. This happens when employees start using cloud services that do not meet the requirements for reliability, security, documentation, control, etc. of the organization. The DZone Community’s 2012 Developer Profile

In June 2012, DZone undertook a survey of the DZone community to better understand your experiences as developers and professionals. If you took our survey in June, you’re in for a treat. We made our very first community infographic that profiles developers in our audience.

The DZone community is constantly growing and changing. Since last year, our membership has grown by 30% and we now have over 650,000 members and over 700 MVBs.

Beware of Data Center Downtime

According to a survey by the Aberdeen Group, organizations lose an average of $138,000 for every hour their data centers are down. For companies with more than 1,000 employees, that’s $1.1 million per year.

So, what’s the solution? For many organizations, it’s outsourcing to the cloud, which reduces the impact of data center downtime by an average of 1.6 hours, and a cost savings of almost $800,000 per year.
